Two weeks training on Capacity Building and social Rehabilitation of Victum of Torture.

Torture
Torture can be explained as an action, verbal exchange of harsh words, Behavior, structure or system, that creates hurdle in physical, psychological, social and environmental development of a person, group, community growth. Torture, evils, hatred exists only as long as a person, institution, community in the form of traditions, norms, power etc, supports them.

Capacity building and social Rehabilitation of Victim of Torture in NWFP Pakistan is a 30 months project funded by EIDHR (European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights) fund of Europe Aid/EU (European Union) and European Perspective is the leading organization with Just Peace International, a Pakistani NGO as implementing partner.

The project is being implemented in North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. Its over all objective is to support the rehabilitation of the victim of torture and contribute to the prevention of torture in NWFP.

The issue of rehabilitation of victim of torture as well as the capacity building of grass roots organization to deal with such phenomena is very prominent issues in Pakistan.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  1. To support the social and economic re-integration of the victim of torture.
  2. Build the capacity of the State authorities and local NGOs active in the field of rehabilitation of victim of torture in NWFP so as to contribute the achievement of the overall objectives

To this aim the project provides for the establishment and operation of rehabilitation centers in NWFP which will provide specialized services (special psychotherapy, vocational training etc) in order to support identified victim of torture and their families.

Other activities are including:

  1. Trainings for local NGOs and State Agencies/ publication of a manual addressed to the front desk officer of state agencies.
  2. Awareness raising campaign/publication of newsletter/information session
  3. Discussion meeting and round tables
  4. media Campaign
  5. Development of a Network of volunteers that will be the actively involved and support the objectives of the project
