
PROVISION OF WATER SUPPLY, SANITATION FACILITIES
AND HYGIENE PROMOTION IN 50 PRIMARY SCHOOLS OF BAJAUR AGENCY FATA

JPI in collaboration with UNICEF has successfully completed a School Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (School WASH) Project in 50 selected primary schools in Tehsil Khar, Utmankhel, Salarzai & Barang of Bajour Agency.
The major Achievements of the Project:
- Safe Water for drinking and cleaning were provided to 50 schools including 37 piped WSS and installation of 13 Hand Pumps with depth of 80 – 100 feet.
- 88 New Pour Flush Twin Pit Latrines (4ft width x 4ft length x 8 ft height) were constructed in 50 schools.
- 85 existing latrines were repaired and made usable for children and teachers in 50 schools.
- 50 Hand Washing Places for Hands & Takhti Washing were installed in targeted schools.
- Provision of 50 Waste bins for Garbage Disposal.
- Formation/Reformation of PTAs (Parents Teachers Associations) at school level for proper utilization and Repair & Maintenance of provided facilities and fund raising for suture interventions.
- Training of Teachers (2 teachers/school) on Child to Child approach and safe hygienic practices.
- 300 Hygiene Sessions with school children for promotion of safe hygienic practices.
Urgent provision of WASH services to flood affected populations settled in 9 number of Schools in Charsadda district KPK. Funded by UNICEF Emergency Response to Devastating Flood in KPK

Project Activities
- Water Tankering to ensure provision of 10 liter Safe Water per individual residing in target schools
- Chlorination of Water and existing Water Sources
- Repair/Maintenance of 31 existing latrines
- Installation of 59 new temporary latrines to provide sanitation facilities as per SPHERE standard
- Installation of Garbage Disposal Point for Waste management
- Hygiene Education to sensitize flood affected population regarding safe hygienic practices.
- Distribution of Buckets among 352 families
- Distribution of Hygiene kits among 352 families.
